Approximately a quarter of our students are boarders, spread across our six boarding houses. We pride ourselves on creating a true home-from-home atmosphere, with a warm and welcoming boarding community supported by a team of dedicated and caring Housemasters and Matrons.
Our boarders join day students during the regular school day and return to their boarding houses from 4pm or after co-curricular activities. Dinner is served in the main dining halls, and after compulsory study time in the evening, there’s still plenty of time for students to enjoy evening activities or unwind with friends during some well-earned down-time.
The boarding houses are located just a short distance from the beautiful and safe market town of Monmouth, giving our students easy access to local shops and the great outdoors. With the stunning countryside on our doorstep, boarders can enjoy weekend excursions, walks, and outdoor activities as part of our weekend programme.
Evenings and Saturdays are always buzzing with opportunities for co-curricular learning. From sports and arts to music and drama, students can dive into a wide range of activities that enrich their boarding experience. And when it’s time to relax, boarders can unwind in cosy common areas, complete with comfy sofas for reading, watching TV, or chatting with friends. Each boarding house also has its own home-from-home style kitchen, where students can make tea and toast, adding to the sense of comfort and independence.
For our Sixth Formers, boarding is designed to offer a taste of independence, with en-suite rooms that mirror the layout of university accommodation. This set-up encourages responsibility and independence, while still providing the caring support of Housemistresses, Housemasters and matrons, ensuring that students have the perfect balance of freedom and guidance as they prepare for the next stage of their education.
