Claremont School – A unique ‘through school’ with a ‘home from home’ boarding experience

Claremont is a friendly, unstuffy, ‘All through’ school, with a relaxed but purposeful atmosphere. Educating over 500 students, the school is set across two sites with the Prep and Nursery located in St Leonards in over 100 acres of playing fields and woodlands, and the Senior School further north in the village of Bodiam.

The Prep School was founded in 1925 and attracts children from across East Sussex and Kent, and more recently, families looking to move out of London. The same is true of our Senior School where the majority of our Year 8 students go on to study. Our unique, Year 6-11 curriculum further enhances a dynamic  ‘Through School’ student experience in which we are able to deliver a continuity of educational ethos as well as a happy, seamless transition to senior school when the time comes.

Since it was founded in 2011, the Senior School has quickly grown into an ambitious and dynamic centre of learning, with a notable emphasis on creativity, sports and student-led initiatives. A Level and GCSE results are consistently strong and over 90% of students regularly access their first choice of university. Many students progress to world-renowned drama schools and college, through our double national award-winning Performing Arts programme.

Situated across two boarding houses, Claremont’s boarding provision is judged by Ofsted to be ‘Outstanding’. Although our Boys and Girls’ boarding houses each have their own identity, they both offer the same high standards of care and educational support in a happy and safe environment.

Whether students board to develop their English skills, to become more independent, to access a British university or simply to enjoy the conviviality of boarding life, their experience at Claremont is always enriching. Our ultimate aim is to enable our boarders to achieve their full potential, academically, creatively and personally.

Claremont has outstanding facilities across two sites. These include sports halls, swimming pools, pitches for every sport, an Astroturf pitch, theatre, Performing Arts Centre, Forest School and, of course, many well-equipped and resourced classrooms and specialist subject areas. Children have the opportunity of learning many new skills and also competing at the highest level at inter-school, local, county and national level.

A shining light of our broader programme is the Claremont International Football Academy (CIFA), which operates throughout the academic year and runs alongside the regular curriculum without any impact on the timetable. Highly selective, the CIFA offers development programmes on a bespoke basis. With multiple age groups competing in regional and national competitions, top level scouts attending training and matches and pathways domestically and abroad, it is a programme that continues to grow and produce talented young sports professionals.
