The Creative Arts Department

The Creative Arts Department at Queen Ethelburga’s combines the skills and resources of our Art, 3D Design, Photography and Media staffing and facilities to offer fantastic learning experiences and a range of subject routes that go beyond the traditional subject choices.

Creative Arts Provision – 3D Design

As an Artsmark-accredited school, we place creativity at the heart of our curriculum. Our Creative Arts Department offers a dynamic and inclusive environment where 3D Design, digital media, and traditional arts thrive side by side. Students are encouraged to explore their artistic potential through a wide range of disciplines including fashion, fine art, photography, media, 3D design and craft.

Our facilities are extensive and inspiring. We boast a suite of specialist rooms, each equipped with industry-standard tools and technology. Students benefit from access to a Microsoft-based digital platform featuring professional software such as Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, and SketchUp. Two fully equipped 3D workshops support both traditional and contemporary making practices, complemented by a traditional darkroom and a professional-grade photography studio complete with lighting and backdrops.

From Early Years, students engage with creative arts through hands-on 2D and 3D media, exploring both analogue and digital techniques to build confidence and originality. This foundation is developed through Key Stages 2 and 3 with a rich, engaging curriculum that often inspires continued study at GCSE and beyond.

Our learning spaces are not only functional but also inspirational. Student work—frequently award-winning—adorns the corridors, celebrating creativity and motivating the next generation of artists and designers.
