Salary: £29,911-£46,324 per annum depending on experience
Employment Term: Full TimePermanent

For nearly five centuries, Christ’s Hospital has pioneered social mobility and challenged social inequality to provide an unrivalled start in life for disadvantaged children. As economic and social inequality continue to grow in the UK, Christ’s Hospital’s mission is as relevant today as it was in 1552.  The school is unique. We are strikingly unlike any other independent school in the UK, with a richly diverse pupil body, both in terms of ethnicity and socio-economic background.  More than 75% of our pupils are on some form of financial support, with a considerable number receiving full bursaries.

We are currently conducting a search for a well-qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of Chemistry from September 2024 or January 2025. This is an exciting prospect for the right person to be part of a unique educational environment. The post offers the opportunity to teach Chemistry to IGCSE and A Level.  As an independent school, a PGCE is not necessary for teaching at Christ’s Hospital, and we would consider recent graduates who are interested in the profession or highly qualified professionals who are interested in a career change.

The successful applicant will be a well-qualified and capable graduate with an enthusiasm for the teaching of Chemistry in a large co-educational boarding school.  Innovation, flair, and vision are highly valued, as is the ability to inspire pupils both inside and outside the classroom.

Applicants should evidence in their personal statement how they how the meet the requirements of the role and person specification. Salary is commensurate with experience and paid in accordance with the Christ’s Hospital teachers’ salary scale up to £46,324 per annum. Full participation in the broader life of this busy boarding community is essential and accommodation on-site may be available.

We welcome applications from all sectors of the community as we aspire to attract staff that match the social and cultural diversity of our student intake. We consider the most important factor to be the right skills, abilities and attitude for the job which will ultimately improve the well-being and education of the pupils.  Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
