IMMEDIATE START

We are looking for a compassionate, skilled, and proactive School Nurse to join our team. The School Nurse will play a vital role in providing medical assistance and promoting the health and wellbeing of pupils and staff at Alleyn’s.

Alleyn’s Hampstead – Term time + 5days; Monday – Friday. 8.30am – 4.30pm.

Alleyn’s Regent’s Park – Term time + 5days; Monday – Friday. 8am – 5pm.

Responsibilities for the role:

  • Providing emergency medical assistance, First-Aid, advice, and non-urgent medical care to pupils, staff and visitors as necessary;
  • Promoting health and wellbeing among pupils and staff by working closely with the School Pastoral team and liaising with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to ensure proportionate information sharing for the best outcomes for pupils;
  • Liaising with third parties (such as paramedics) in emergency situations;
  • Ensuring accident reports are completed and recorded according to the School policy;
  •  Being proactive with regard to safeguarding and attending regular meetings;
  • Completing the annual exercise of setting up all pupil related medical details on our systems in advance of each new academic year, and then maintaining and updating pupil medical records on the School’s reporting system (Medical Tracker);
  • Understanding and following recommended procedures and protocols for the safe recording, storage, usage, dispensing and disposal of medical supplies and drugs;
  • Maintaining and accounting for sufficient treatment room medical supplies, excellent hygiene and tidiness;
  • Maintaining stocks of medical supplies and ensuring medical equipment is accessible and in good working order;
  • Providing first aid kits, medical information and supporting risk assessment for trips, events and activities as required;
  • Undertaking ongoing CPD according to the NMC guidelines and code of professional conduct in order to remain on the register.

  • Being aware of the School’s Health & Safety Policy as well as other Medical, First Aid and Safeguarding policies;
  • n conjunction with all staff of the School, supporting, promoting, and acting within the School’s data protection policies and practices;

  • Undertaking any additional duties which are within the reasonable capability and responsibility of the School Nurse.

Person Specification:

The ideal candidate will have –

Qualifications:

  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) or Registered Nurse Child Branch (RNCB), with a current and valid Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration.
  • Certification in First Aid (including Paediatric First Aid).

Experience:

  • Previous experience of working as an independent school nurse or at least 2 years of post-registration nursing experience, preferably working with young people in a paediatric or educational setting;
  • Excellent up to date medical knowledge and an understanding of issues faced by young people, including mental health needs;

Skills and abilities:

  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, with the ability to manage a range of health issues and emergencies;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, staff, and external healthcare providers;
  • An understanding of and adherence to confidentiality and safeguarding procedures;
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise a busy caseload and maintain accurate records;
  • The ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral care teams, and external agencies;
  • Proficiency in healthcare management software and other relevant IT systems;
