Immediate Start

40 hours per week, combination of day, evening and weekend work, supporting the activities and pastoral care of boarding students

Salary based on SA12, £26,118 per annum (rising in April 2026)

Main Duties

Pastoral Care

  • To be a cheerful, positive, sympathetic presence to the pupils in your care, as well as enforcing discipline as appropriate.
  • To maintain the safety and wellbeing of pupils in a secure and happy environment.
  • To promote a good working relationship with pupils’ parents/guardians.
  • Take responsibility for the organisation and operation of House duties as directed by the Housemistress/master (HsM).
  • To assist in the organisation of extra -curricular activities in the evenings and weekends and to accompany extra -curricular trips as requested.
  • To maintain close liaison with the HsM, Deputy HsM and Assistant Houseparent (AHP), Health Centre staff and Senior Staff where appropriate; to consult about pupils and inform the above of any reasons for concern, using the communication structures in place.
  • To act as cover for the AHP in any Boarding House as required.
  • To complete travel arrangements for pupils and liaise with the Safeguarding and Office team.
  • To liaise with relevant staff regarding catering, maintenance and housekeeping.
  • To communicate effectively with parents in whatever capacity required.
  • To respect the privacy of any pupil by exercising confidentiality at all times, within the bounds of safeguarding regulations.
  • Supervision of students for off-site appointments (e.g. as supervision on a school coach, using taxis or public transport or driving a private (school registered) vehicle for which mileage would be paid).
  • To provide support in the provision of care for the students’ health and to liaise with the Nurses in the Health Centre, raising any causes for concern.
  • To report back to appropriate staff (e.g. Health Centre or Safeguarding Administrator) ensuring to pass on information from an appointment, trip or activity.
  • Escorting coaches to Chippenham / London on a rota basis at holidays/ half -terms and exeats.

Supporting Operational Staff:

  • Assist with key administrative or operational departments, such as Admissions and Logistics according to the needs of the school.

Weekend duties :

  • Wake -ups, bedtime routines, supporting activities in House and staffing trips, both co-curricular and sporting.
