We are looking for a Weekend Library Assistant to work in the historic King’s School Library in Canterbury from January 2026.

A Library Assistant is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the library, maintaining a welcoming environment and a high standard of service for the pupils, staff, and the wider school community.

You will spend your working time at the front desk, greeting our visitors, supporting their use of the library, providing help and advice on academic and reading matters. There will be some shelving and maybe even some book covering. The role is an excellent additional job for someone who enjoys working with young people and supporting learning; and if you’re interested in progressing in the wonderful world of librarianship it’s a great opportunity to be supported in the early stages of your career development.

We’re looking for someone reliable and punctual, with excellent IT and communication skills (Office, Teams, Sharepoint, VLE), experience of academic research, who strives to deliver a positive and responsive customer-focussed service. You must be able to work with accuracy, to multi-task, and adapt. The role requires working independently, supported by a wider team.
