Our outstanding Sports department are currently recruiting for an experienced and inspirational Head of Rugby to lead our exceptional programme from September 2024. Rugby is the major boys sport at the Senior School in the Autumn Term, and is played at the Prep School in the Autumn and Spring Terms. We have teams in all age groups from U8 to U18. Regular training and Games lessons run through the week, and fixtures are played both mid-week and on Saturday afternoons. We play 7s rugby in the Spring Term, taking part in Sunday tournaments in the lead-up to competing at the Rosslyn Park National Schools’ 7s. The school has a strong ethos of full participation in Rugby, and we have had successful teams in the past decade. A number of our pupils have gone on to play professionally, most recently Toby Trinder (Northampton Saints), whilst Connor Evans has recently represented South Africa U20s in his homeland and has signed a playing contract with The Stormers.
The Head of Rugby has the opportunity to redesign our rugby provision, sustaining the existing love of the game while increasing success across all year groups and raising the profile of rugby at the College and beyond. The successful candidate will have a strong sporting background, with proven experience of change management and expertise in the coaching and management of the sport. They will work closely with the Director of Sport and the Head of Prep School PE & Games as well as with other coaching and academic staff. The College supports taking pupils on tours and has done so regularly in past years, including to South Africa in the summer of 2023. It is expected that the Head of Rugby will organise and lead Rugby tours.
The successful candidate will be working 33 weeks of the year. Some of these weeks will be worked during school holidays rather than the summer term, to facilitate pre-season training and Rugby camps. A competitive salary is offered.
As a school, we are committed to achieving success and this role requires an individual with charisma, enthusiasm and ambition. We welcome all applications especially from independent thinkers, creative minds and inspirational teachers and very much look forward to receiving your application.
