Each year, Felsted School appoints graduates to support departments in the delivery of their programmes, and to contribute to co-curricular activities, boarding and house duties across the school.

We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic music graduate with excellent subject knowledge that can communicate effectively with a wide age group of students from Years 9 to 13. It is essential that candidates have an evident passion for Music and a strong interest in the teaching and the learning process, including high expectations for all students to succeed in Music to effectively fulfil the role. Applicants must hold a degree in Music (or an equivalent qualification).

We particularly welcome applications from those who are excellent pianists and accompanists and are willing to contribute to the co-curricular learning activities at this ‘Excellent in Every Aspect’ rated independent school.

Full board and accommodation will be provided plus an honorarium payment of £15,743 per annum. This is a fixed-term position commencing from 28 August 2023 until 27 August 2024 and would be an ideal position for someone who holds a degree in Music and is considering a career in boarding education, teaching (though no teaching experience or qualification are required) or a career in music.

Felsted School has a busy music department with several concerts over the course of an academic year, as well as Chapel services and other events. The Chapel has a three-manual Willis Organ, and the recital hall has a Model B Steinway grand piano. Music is taught throughout the school – it is compulsory until the end of Year 9, after which students may take it as a GCSE option. In the Sixth Form, pupils can take the subject either at A Level or IB.
