We are seeking to appoint a Girls’ Houseparent and After School Club Leader.
Our Houseparents play a vital pastoral role, ensuring the smooth running of our boarding houses. Their
primary role is to provide outstanding pastoral care; and a caring, nurturing, happy and organised boarding
environment, for our boarders. The successful candidate will be required to live on site and will benefit
from self-contained accommodation (one double bedroom, bathroom, open plan kitchen/dining room and
living room) within the boarding house.
The After School Club Leader aspect of the role involves managing our Pre-Prep After School Club
provision for children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. The successful candidate will work closely with our
Pre-Prep team, providing an exciting and engaging After School Club provision.

Hours of Work
This role is term time only (with a few days worked at the start and end of each term). The required hours
of work are as follows.
• 3 overnight boarding duties each week (spread across Monday to Friday) from 18.00 until 08.15 the
• Boarding duties every other weekend from 12.30 on Saturday until 08.15 on Monday morning.
After School Club Leader:
15.30 to 18.00 Monday to Thursday and 15.30 to 17.00 on Friday. There will also be some
preparation/administration time required for the role but this can be worked flexibly.
April 2024 ideally but we can accommodate a later start date if needed.

Head of Boarding
To provide outstanding pastoral care; and a caring, nurturing, happy and organised boarding environment,
for all our junior girl boarders.
Houseparent – Key Responsibilities
• Overall responsibility for your Boarding House and its pupils.
• Ensure that the Boarding House is safe and nurturing environment in which pupils feel at home.
• Maintain, with the pupils and other staff, a clean, tidy and cosy Boarding House.
• Ensure that pupils are well cared for, clean and well presented.
• Ensure that all Boarding House staff understand and implement the objectives of the Boarding
House and Port Regis’ Vision and Values.
• Be sympathetic to the needs of pupils who are a long way from home and their cultural context.
• Administer vitamins and any medication as advised by the Health Centre and be responsible for
basic first aid/health care for the boarders overnight and on Sundays.
• To keep a daily house diary to ensure that there is continuity and an awareness of any concerns.
• To be a key figure, particularly during meals, rec and games, ensuring that good behaviour is

Houseparents’ Training and Other Responsibilities
• All Houseparents must attend a relevant training course or conference every three years.
• Other responsibilities are detailed in the School Handbook or other school policy documents.
After School Club Leader
Reports to: Head of Pre-Prep
• Co-ordinate the planning, preparation and supervision of After School Club activities.
• Ensure the delivery of a high quality After School Club provision.
• Ensure that the After School Club provides a welcoming, safe, caring, stimulating educational
environment, both indoors and outdoors, at all times.
• Liaise with parents as necessary.
• Ensure appropriate support for any children with learning support needs in conjunction with our

• Work with colleagues and other professionals to share good practice and knowledge. Attend courses
and in–service training to keep up to date with developments in best practice.
• Attend to the personal care of children following school policy.
• Hold an up to date paediatric first aid qualification at the required level and administer first aid or

• Carry out all responsibilities and activities within an equal opportunities framework.

• Ensure compliance with data protection and health safety legislation and school policies and
