Purpose
Community & Leadership
  • Support House Parent in managing all aspects of boarding; deputise in their absence.
  • Focus on Sixth Form boarders while working across all age groups.
  • Share overnight on-call duties; remain resident during term time.
  • Help prepare for ISI inspections and GDST audits; ensure compliance with National Minimum Standards.
  • Assist with marketing, recruitment, and retention of boarders.
Pastoral Care
  • Build strong relationships with boarders and parents; provide inductions for new students.
  • Monitor welfare, discipline, and wellbeing; respond to individual needs including cultural and academic.
  • Dispense medication and maintain records; liaise with Medical Centre.
  • Promote healthy routines, hygiene, diet, and bedtime schedules.
  • Support students with academic pressures, exam prep, and UCAS applications.
Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure safeguarding, health & safety, and fire regulations are met.
  • Supervise boarders at all times outside teaching hours; manage emergencies.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and visitor records; uphold privacy and security.
Parental Engagement
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with parents; manage travel and permissions.
  • Welcome new families and maintain strong relationships.
Team & School Duties
  • Participate in staff meetings, INSET, and appraisal processes.
  • Support House Parent with events, recruitment, and marketing initiatives.
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism and behaviour within the House.
Essential Skills & Attributes
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills; safeguarding knowledge.
  • Empathetic, resilient, proactive, and committed to school life.
  • Experience in residential or educational settings; willingness to train.

Hours: Full Time Term, Time Only to include evening and weekend working
