OVERVIEW OF THE JOB
House Parents at CATS College are at the heart of our boarding community, and have a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our students. The role is central to the positive social and personal development of students and ensuring they have an enriching, nurturing and developmental experience with us.

Reporting into the Head of Boarding and working within the framework set by, and under the general direction of the principal, you provide a supervising adult presence in the boarding house that is committed to ensuring the health and wellbeing of our international boarding students and assist them in their daily lives, working a hours on a zero hours contract supporting the boarding team covering for holidays and sickness. Weekday hours when on duty are evenings and mornings, along with weekend on duties.

Please note, this position is on a ‘bank’ basis, and therefore there are no guaranteed hours. You will be supporting the Boarding Team with absence cover and therefore shifts will cover a variation of weekdays, weekends and nights.

ACCOMMODATION
When on shift you have the option of staying in residence overnight in a temporary room designated by the House Leader on duty.

  • High levels of energy, an even temper and a sense of humour
  • Confidence in spoken and written English
  • Confidence to tackle students who are not adhering to the College rules
  • Ability to relate to young people
  • Ability and willingness to work in a multi-cultural environment
  • Willingness to work unsociable hours
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to work as a team member and lead by example
  • Ability to be proactive, flexible and reliable
