We are seeking to recruit an Assistant Houseparent for our boarding house for January 2026. The ideal candidate will be able to provide exceptional pastoral care and support to our boarders. An ability to contribute to the school beyond the house is an advantage, but the prime focus of this role is the wellbeing of the boarders.
The Assistant Houseparent helps create and maintain an atmosphere in which all pupils feel welcomed, happy, well-cared for and nurtured. The holder of this vital post will support the Houseparent in co-ordinating the pastoral, academic, spiritual and co-curricular development of the pupils in their care. The Assistant Houseparent will provide excellent, loco parentis care to our pupils, many of whom are far from home, and some with limited English.
Job Role:
Deputise for the Houseparent during their absences
To support the Houseparent with the staffing, organisation and resources of the house
Assist with the development of a harmonious house atmosphere in which pupils can
develop social skills and mature into confident, fulfilled and valued citizens, who will
make a positive impact on those around them
Assist in creating an atmosphere in which all pupils feel welcomed, happy, well-cared
for and nurtured
To ensure that the National Minimum Standards for Boarding Schools are maintained
at all times by following the guidance stated in the “Wilmot House Boarding Handbook
for Staff”
Ensure the smooth running, ethos and general discipline of the boarding house and
compliance with School rules
