An exciting opportunity is available, from September 2024, for an enthusiastic person with a positive and caring attitude to live and work in the Boarding Department in one of the leading state boarding schools in the country.

Situated in the Cotswolds’, Burford School is a heavily oversubscribed Academy founded as an Elizabethan Grammar School in 1571. The original Charter of the School is celebrated each year. Today, the original Grammar School sits as part of the historic buildings that form the Boarding Department, in the heart of Burford.

You will be part of a boarding team that supports the academic and pastoral progress of the students and is sympathetic to the philosophy and ethos of boarding at Burford School. The needs of the students vary and the Residential Assistant must have the ability to deal with confidential matters and show empathy and commitment to the students within their care. The post comes with residential accommodation which the post holder will be required to live in during term time.

The post will ideally suit an individual who seeks experience in an educational environment and who may wish to pursue a career in education. You are expected to have boundless energy, good resilience, enthusiasm, flexibility, a sense of humour and, ideally, an understanding of boarding life.

If you would like to discuss the role informally or to arrange a visit, please contact the Head of Boarding, Mrs Sandi Kaaber, at s.kaaber@burford.oxon.sch.uk.
