We seek a qualified PE teacher who will report to the Head of Academic PE and the Head of Core PE on a day to day basis but also works with the Director and Assistant Director of Sport in the co-curricular games programme.

A teaching qualification is essential for this role but experience can vary; teaching may include Year 9-11 Core PE, GCSE PE courses, A level PE and possibly BTEC Sport, depending on interest and experience.

The successful candidate must also be able to coach at least one of the schools’ major team sports. Coaching competitive sport is required in all three terms of the year, including on Saturdays, our main fixture day. The main team sports are Rugby, Hockey, Netball, Football, Lacrosse, Rowing, Tennis, Cricket, Athletics and Swimming. The school also offers Cross Country, Equestrianism, Fencing, Golf, Sailing, Shooting and Squash as competitive sports.

In addition there are many opportunities for further involvement in the wider pastoral and co-curricular life of this large and busy boarding school.  All teachers at King’s take on a tutor group in one of the boarding or day houses as well as regular weekly duties, usually in the evenings.

This could be a part-time (0.50 FTE upwards) or full-time role; it is maternity cover but there may be the possibility of continuing in a permanent role after the maternity cover is finished.

The King’s School is looking to appoint an Assistant Director of Sport.  The teacher will be a qualified PE teacher, who will report to the Head of Academic PE and Head of Core PE on a day to day basis but is also expected to work closely with the Director of Sport in guiding the development of sport across the school.

The successful candidate will have proven experience and a genuine commitment to teaching A-Level and BTEC PE and will be expected to lead, and be a strong presence in, core PE sessions which are based in the school’s Recreation Centre.

The successful candidate must also be able to coach at least two of the schools’ major team sports to a high level, and have the ability to take overall charge of at least one of them, as well as being able to coach in at least one other sport. Coaching competitive sport is required in all three terms of the year, including at weekends. The main team sports are Rugby, Hockey, Netball, Football, Lacrosse, Rowing, Tennis, Cricket, Athletics and Swimming. The school also offers Badminton, Cross Country, Equestrianism, Fencing, Golf, Sailing, Shooting and Squash as competitive sports.

In addition there are many opportunities for further involvement in the wider pastoral and co-curricular life of this large and busy boarding school.  All teachers at King’s take on a tutor group in one of the boarding or day houses as well as regular weekly duties, usually in the evenings.
