Diabetes Management; Part of the Hieda Box Set

Course outline

This training package comprises of 12 webinars on a variety of medical topics, the purpose of which is to provide updates on medical conditions and refresh skills. The aim is to support school nurses with their training and development needs; help them to raise the standards of care provided in schools, this could count as CPD as part of their revalidation. However, in the wider context this box set is suitable for all organisations who wish to further their knowledge with a view to supporting their employees within the work environment. Webinars will be recorded so that if you can not attend the day they can be available for you to view when convenient.

This set will be £500 for a member series place.

This course aims to update the delegate on Diabetes management in the workplace. It will outline some support strategies that can be implemented to promote high standards of care, efficient management and promote teamwork for the care of the person who has diabetes. It will discuss latest technology to support diabetics.

Speaker: Kirsty Dring 

Kirsty has been working in paediatrics since 2001. She was a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Paediatric Diabetes Team at University College Hospital, for 10 years and more latterly spent 6 years at St Georges’ Hospital London providing information, support and training about Diabetes to children, young people and their families. Her role also included insulin pumps starts, and she held nurse-led clinics, which aimed to provide extra support and motivation for young people struggling to manage their diabetes. Kirsty was actively involved in educating others to support children and YP with Diabetes, for example providing training days for nurses and other staff in schools. Kirsty’s Masters’ Dissertation Research Project looked into best ways of educating school staff around Diabetes. Recently Kirsty changed roles and is currently a school nurse in an Independent Boarding School, caring for children with multiple health conditions including diabetes.
