BSA is delighted to welcome Heads from our member schools to our Annual conference for Heads, sponsored by Innermedia and Schoolblazer. This year the conference is hosted by Andrew Rattue, Headmaster of St Clare’s Oxford, and BSA Chair 2022.

The theme for the conference this year is Leading the way and the busy programme will consider this theme in the context of boarding leadership, but also more broadly, taking inspiration from other sectors. It will also inspire delegates to consider how boarding should be “leading the way” in raising standards worldwide, both internally across boarding, but also outwardly across the care and provision for young people.

Topics include:

  • Leading into the unknown
  • Leading the way in kindness and emotional intelligence
  • Leading to win
  • Leading the way in 21st century boarding – an open discussion led by our panel
  • An update on standards and inspections
  • What wakes me up at night? – an open discussion led by our panel
  • What it means to be a leader in the 21st century
  • The psychology of kindness
  • Leading the way on communications
  • Leading on legal
  • Safeguarding
  • Leading with compassion.

  • Robin Fletcher, Chief Executive, BSA
  • Andy Rattue, Principal, St Clare’s Oxford and BSA Chair 2022
  • Greig Trout, Director of Kindness, 52 Lives
  • David Pond, Director of International Business Development, Yakaboo
  • Vanessa Ward, CEO and Chief Inspector, ISI
  • Simon Cohen, speaker and broadcaster

COVID

To keep all attendees, speakers, exhibitors and the venue staff as safe as possible, we have put in place a number of measures in line with current guidance from the UK government. We would ask all involved in the conference to respect and adhere to these measures and help us have as positive an experience as possible.
These measures will be regularly reviewed.

  • Please can all attendees take a lateral flow test in advance of the conference, ideally 24hrs before. If your test results come back positive, please do let us know that you will not be able to attend the conference
  • While mask-wearing is now currently an individual decision with no further restrictions at an event of this size, or in the venue, attendees are welcome to do so if you feel more comfortable
  • Hand sanitiser will be available throughout the venue and the conference space in particular.

Everyone involved in the conference is asked to keep in mind that we are all experiencing and dealing with COVID differently and have varying comfort levels. Please keep this in mind throughout and be respectful of decisions around greetings, personal space etc.
