Course Outline:
Our termly Safeguarding and Legal Update is an interactive briefing designed to keep educational agents fully informed about the latest developments shaping compliance, risk management, and best practice across the sector. Each session distils emerging guidance, legislative changes, and evolving safeguarding expectations into clear, practical insight, ensuring agents remain confident, up‑to‑date, and equipped to support schools and learners effectively. With opportunities for discussion, this session provides a focused space to stay ahead of key responsibilities and upcoming changes.
Achieve the BSA/BAISIS Agent Academy AQF Training Certificate and build the specialist knowledge you need to work effectively with British boarding schools. The certificate covers:
- the UK boarding-school sector
- supporting international pupils
- choosing the right school for each child
- ethical and professional agent practice
- safeguarding and student welfare
- UKVI and the Child Student route
- building effective, long-term relationships with schools.
The certificate is open to all education agents / consultants and is designed to support good practice in line with the AQF and National Code. This training certifies individuals not organisations and can be shared with schools as evidence of meeting AQF standards – register here!

Speakers

Kate Hollyer MTIOB, Partner and Director, BSA Legal
A qualified solicitor with over 14 years’ experience in UK immigration law, Kate advises and supports members on a full range of immigration matters. Before joining BSA in 2022, Kate was Partner and Head of Department at a leading UK law firm, where she built extensive expertise in complex immigration cases. Since 2014, Kate has lived in boarding houses alongside her Housemaster husband, giving her a unique, first-hand perspective on the challenges and opportunities of boarding life.

Gaelle Sullivan, Director of Research, Inclusion and IELA
Gaelle is Director of Research, Inclusion and IELA and joined the BSA in January 2023. She is an experienced senior leader and has worked in a range of state and independent schools. She is a qualified SENCO and holds a Masters Degree in Inclusive Education. Prior to joining the BSA, Gaelle was Deputy Head Pastoral, DSL and Head of Boarding at an all-girls independent school in the South-East.
