Course outline:
BSA and BAISIS have launched a training programme of five one-hour webinars designed to support educational agents in supporting their families better, grow their reputation and ensure every student thrives in their new school. This series can be accessed as individual sessions – remember BSA certified agents get two free training courses per year – or as a package.
The
Understanding additional support webinar will take delegates through current practice and thinking around additional support, including how schools identify additional needs, what support can typically be offered. The session will also share cultural support schools can offer to help families understand more about how additional support and needs are seen from a UK education perspective – crucially, not negatively!
Training topics will include:
- How UK schools support student welfare (day and boarding)
- Cultural adjustments and integration
- Identifying and supporting additional social, emotional and academic needs
- SEND and EAL support – ensuring proper support for students with learning difficulties
- Unpicking cultural differences around additional support.
Learning outcomes:
By the end of the session, participants will:
- Greater understanding of additional needs schools can support with
- Detail on how schools can support young people and families in identifying additional needs
- Confidence to support families in being open to exploring school options based on the needs of their child(ren) without fear of rejection.
