We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic person to become Deputy Head of Boarding in our vibrant Boarding Department.

The Deputy Head of Boarding will support the general and personal development of all students in the Boarding House, in line with school policies. They will work alongside the Head of Boarding to give students a positive, ‘home from home’ experience of boarding, recognising and meeting everyone’s needs by building strong, supportive relationships.

Situated at ‘The Gateway to the Cotswolds’, Burford School is an academy founded as an Elizabethan grammar school in 1571. The School’s Charter still exists, and its founding is celebrated each year with a Charter Day Service attended by the whole school. Today, the original Grammar School building in the heart of Burford is Grade I listed and forms part of our Boarding Department.

If you would like to discuss the role informally, please contact R. Hogg, Head of Boarding, at r.hogg@burford.oxon.sch.uk.

The Deputy Head of Boarding is a residential post, and the postholder will be required to live in the House during term time.

Residence in School-provided accommodation is an essential requirement of this post, to enable the proper performance of the postholder’s duties. The postholder will be required to enter into a Service Occupancy Licence Agreement (SOLA) in respect of the accommodation.

The right to occupy the accommodation is conditional upon, and ancillary to, the postholder’s employment. It will terminate automatically and immediately when the employment ends, for whatever reason. There will be no right to remain in occupation beyond that date, and no security of tenure.

The successful candidate will need to meet the person specification to be offered the post and will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
