We are seeking an ambitious and dynamic colleague who shares our vision of teaching as a vocation, and who will seize an exciting opportunity to work at Rugby School. The successful candidate will lead a large department, act as SENDCO and teach Learning Development lessons to students throughout the School (Sixth Form). The Head of Learning Development will advocate for students with SEND, contribute to the development of strategy, policy and practice in relation to students with SEND and have a significant role in relation to staff training in regard to SEND.

Rugby School is delighted to offer all students the chance to study the IB, a programme closely aligned with our ethos of developing the whole person, alongside A Levels. Rugby is renowned for its highly successful and innovative approach to education. As a coaching school we are looking for staff who are committed to a professional obligation to improve as teachers and who value personal growth. We offer a varied programme of professional development, including in-house leadership courses for aspiring middle and senior leaders. Our aim is to ensure our colleagues are prepared well for the next step in their career.

The School is a boarding and day school in full operation seven days per week including evenings during term time. The Head of Learning Development will not be expected to contributed to the pastoral or co-curricular aspects of School life focusing instead on the leadership and development of the Learning Development Department. As a consequence this is a part time role amounting to 0.7 of a full time position.
