Employment Term: Part Time

Start:  September 2026

Based in the stunning setting of the Precincts of Canterbury Cathedral and St Augustine’s Abbey, a World Heritage Site, The King’s School is one of the oldest and most prestigious Schools in the country with an enviable record of academic excellence and achievement.

We require an experienced and enthusiastic flute teacher to join our Sounding Out team to start with us for the Advent Term (start date 19/09/26).

Sounding Out is The King’s School, Canterbury’s music outreach programme. The position will initially involve teaching one 45 minute group flute lesson (3 or 4 students per group) and involvement in two other musical sessions (assisting with ensemble work / theory etc) on eight Saturday mornings per term. The hours would increase each year as the flautists work their way through the programme.

In addition to these group lessons, the position also involves preparing the students for twice yearly showcase performances and being part of the Sounding Out team, working together to support the general musicianship of all the students in the programme. We currently offer violin, trumpet, cello and clarinet lessons and from September 2026, will be expanding to include flute.

If you have questions about the post, or would like an informal discussion to learn more, please contact Nikki Ridley, Sounding Out Coordinator on 07825 016285
