International Boarding Day

BSA International Boarding Day takes place annually in October each year. The celebration recognises the individual experiences within boarding communities worldwide.

This important day highlights the sense of community, camaraderie, and personal growth fostered within these educational environments. Boarding schools play a significant role in shaping the lives of young people. International Boarding Day aims to create an opportunity to reflect on the invaluable life skills, friendships, and independence cultivated in these settings, while also celebrating and sharing experiences of inclusive, supportive boarding school communities across the globe.

2025 theme: Unique Identities

Join us on Saturday October 4 for this year’s International Boarding Day celebration! The theme for 2025 is ‘Unique Identities’.

Boarding offers a truly unique experience across the world. As part of BSA’s 60th anniversary celebrations, we are highlighting the rich and diverse heritage of our member schools and the vibrant communities that make them special. International Boarding Day provides an opportunity to shine a global spotlight on boarding, showcasing how schools have evolved over time into inclusive, multicultural communities and dynamic learning environments where every student can thrive.

How to get involved

We’d love to hear how your boarding school values ‘Unique Identities’, in the context of people and place. How has your boarding provision changed in the last 60 years? Share your stories, images and videos with us on International Boarding Day across social media using the hashtags #InternationalBoardingDay #iloveboarding and we’ll share them across our digital platforms.

International Boarding Day is supported by our sister associations, BAISIS and IELA.
