King William’s College provides first class education in the idyllic, tranquil and safe setting of the Isle of Man. The College believes in the pursuit of excellence, ensuring that all our pupils have the very best start in life. We aim to develop intellectually curious, socially responsible and morally principled young people who will lead by example and out of conviction. Partly because classes are small (teacher/pupil ratio 1:8), partly because the tutorial system is excellent and efficient and partly because of the excellent rapport between teachers and students, the College is a strikingly happy school. Sports – The College has a strong tradition and a fine reputation in the major games of rugby, hockey and cricket. There are regular fixtures with Isle of Man schools and schools in other parts of the British Isles. Netball, athletics, soccer, cross-country and swimming all flourish and there are both House and College competitions. Senior pupils may opt to play golf on the magnificent adjoining Castletown Golf Links or to sail as their major summer sport. There are approximately thirty acres of first class playing fields, all-weather pitches, indoor heated swimming pool, rifle range, gymnasium for basketball and badminton, tennis courts, two squash courts. Extra Curricular – There is a wide range of societies and activities to complement academic life. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme flourishes and expeditions are undertaken regularly both on the Island and further afield. There is a thriving Combined Cadet Force. There are regular skiing trips, choir tours and educational trips to the UK and abroad.
We offer Academic Scholarships and Drama, Golf, Music and Sport Awards for pupils entering Years 7 and for Sixth Form entry. A bursary fund is available to assist with school fees in cases of need.
