City of London Freemen’s School is a co-educational day and boarding school for pupils aged 7 to 18, set within 57 acres of beautiful parkland in historic Ashtead Park, Surrey. Just 40 minutes from Central London and 30 minutes from both Gatwick and Heathrow airports. Founded in 1854 in Brixton to support the orphaned children of Freemen of the City of London, the school has remained true to its community-focused, co-educational ethos for nearly 170 years. Today, Freemen’s is a nurturing and forward-looking environment where pupils are encouraged to learn, lead, and make a difference—a mission that shapes every aspect of school life. Academic achievement is a key strength, with 92% of A Level grades awarded A*–B in 2025 and 90% of leavers securing places at their first-choice universities, including 71% at Russell Group institutions. Yet, Freemen’s is about more than results, it is a place where young people grow into compassionate, confident, and purposeful individuals, ready to contribute meaningfully to the world.
