Course Outline
Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) focuses on the role that thoughts play regarding both emotions and behaviour, and advocates that change in thought processes can have a significant effect upon altering behaviours. This is a goal-oriented and specific approach which often results in positive and meaningful change in a short period of time. A range of evidence indicated that CBT is an effective intervention for supporting young people with a range of difficulties.

In the context of the mental health and wellbeing agenda, CBT is an evidence-based intervention which has a preventative role in identifying and supporting young people to develop healthy coping strategies. Delegates will explore key CBT tools, strategies and opportunities to practice and apply these to case studies. Delegates will gain knowledge of a range of CBT tools and strategies and how these can be used to support with individuals, small groups and a whole class/house. They will also develop an understanding of using these tools to target not only those experiencing difficulties but also as a preventative approach to build resilience. Delegates will develop their skills and be able to have tools which they can start using immediately with young people.

Speaker: Dr Jody Walshe, Educational and Child Psychologist
Dr Jody Walshe is an Educational and Child Psychologist working in London borough. Jody completed her doctorate at the University of East London. She is also a Consultant Psychologist providing consultations for foster carers and supervising social workers. She is a registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council.
Before commencing her training, Jody worked as a teacher, learning support assistant and tutor with young people from 5-19. The focus of much of her work looked at anxiety and mental health issues in school settings. Her doctoral research explored the experiences, perceptions and training needs of secondary school staff working with self-harm.

Hi I have two albums of photos taken at what appears to be a boarding school in 1945/6. I don't know the school - there is only one photo showing any part of the exterior. The photos are excellent - the master who took them was clearly a gifted amateur. I'd like to try to trace the school and ask if they'd like the albums for their archives. I've attempted to scan the one with the exterior. It's firmly glued into the album, so apologies for the poor quality.
