Course outline:

Boarders across all age groups encounter several challenges at various stages of their development. Boarding schools aim to develop independent, caring, responsible young people but the journey can sometimes be bumpy. This seminar aims to cover some of the most common challenges facing young people and practical approaches to overcoming them. 

Training topics will include:

  • Anxiety and its causes 
  • Homesickness 
  • Body image 
  • Unhealthy coping strategies 
  • Strategies to reduce anxiety and support those in need. 

Learning outcomes:

  • To understand the causes of anxiety in young people at various stages in their development. 
  • To learn how to identify the signs of low-level anxiety 
  • To be able to develop strategies for young people to reduce anxiety
