Bradfield College is one of the leading all-round coeducational boarding schools in the country: this reputation stems not only from the extremely high standard of pastoral care at the College, but also the way Bradfield families benefit from an excellent academic education AND the broader vision of holistic development created by the well-rounded, co-curricular activities. And all of this in the setting of an unspoilt Berkshire village. The modern College combines values and attributes essential to 21st Century life with those of its founder, Thomas Stevens, who established St. Andrew’s College in 1850. The Chapel at the heart of the College is central to spiritual life, reflection and serenity.

Alongside an excellent academic education, all partake of the ‘Bradfield experience’ which permits each individual to find his or her special niche. The classroom atmosphere engenders a love of learning for its own sake; the participatory culture ensures that expert and enthusiast alike thrive within the broad spectrum of co-curricular activities. Pastoral care is of the highest possible standard. Boys and girls move on to senior houses after Faulkner’s, a co-educational house in which all spend their first year at the College. Each House has a dedicated team of staff and every pupil benefits from the care of a Housemaster or Housemistress, a personal tutor and a matron. Attention to individual needs, and how these may change with progress through the College, is paramount.

The superb facilities at Bradfield include modern teaching and learning environments within the beautiful brick-and-flint original buildings. A new state-of-the-art and environmentally-friendly science centre opened its doors to pupils and the local community in September 2010 and the College introduced the IB diploma to run alongside its existing full A-level programme in September 2012, subject to accreditation. There is also a modern music school, a sports complex with indoor swimming pool, an indoor tennis centre and two floodlit all-weather pitches.

Set in its own medieval village in 250 acres of beautiful Berkshire countryside the College enjoys exceptional playing fields, golf course and stunning views across the Pang valley. All this within 40 minutes of Heathrow and an hour from Central London. Admission to the College is at both 13+ and into the large and vibrant Sixth Form. The Junior school curriculum is tailored to individual learning styles and in the Senior school a diverse range of A-level and IBDP subjects is on offer. The College is enduringly popular with ex-pat communities owing to its provision for pupils throughout the term and its unique family atmosphere. Pupils are drawn from a large and varied range of schools and backgrounds resulting in a community diverse in talents and attributes yet united in values and attitudes.
