Huish students achieve impressive results in National Physics Challenge

Eleven of Richard Huish College’s A Level Physics students have received awards after competing in the Senior Physics Challenge created by the British Physics Olympiad (BPhO).

Over 5,000 students from roughly 300 schools took part in this year’s online competition which saw those participating challenged with answering a range of tricky questions on a variety of topics. From the 11 awards that Huish students received there was one Commendation Award, nine Bronze Awards and one Gold Award.

A massive congratulations to all of the students who took part and who earned awards, those students were; Daniel Jennings, formerly of The Castle School (Commendation), Archie Vincent formerly of Uffculme School (Bronze), Benitas Sirutis, Jaz Kerr Smith, Henry Rowland-Hill, all former Court Fields students (Bronze), Daniel Vidler, Guy Odams, both former Heathfield Community School students (Bronze), Charlie Kellett, formerly of West Somerset College (Bronze), Seth Jarrett, formerly of Haygrove School (Bronze) and George White, who is a former Bishop Fox’s student (Bronze). Obtaining the Gold Award was former Heathfield Community School student, James Kimmins who did phenomenally and placed amongst the top 800 students nationally.

Physics Course Manager, Barrie Hall, said, “The British Physics Olympiad allows students to see how their Physics skills compare with others across the country, all of the students who took part should be immensely proud of facing this challenge and well done to all on their remarkable achievements”.
