Millfield dancers took part in an immersive workshop with musical theatre performer, Andrew Chadwick, who recently appeared in Disney’s recent major motion picture remake of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ where he danced the role of ‘Lumiere’.
Andrew has vast experience performing in various well-known musicals, including performing lead roles such as ‘Rusty’ in ‘Starlight Express’, ‘Mungojerry’ in ‘Cats’, ‘Bobby C’ in ‘Saturday Night Fever’, Dance captain in ‘Fame’ along with many other theatre credits. He is currently performing and playing the lead role in Disney’s hit musical, ‘Tarzan’.
The pupils learnt several musical theatre and commercial dance routines, including work to ‘The Greatest Showman’ soundtrack. The dancers had a superb afternoon of dance and a wonderful insight into Andrew’s life as a professional dancer.
Currently, over 100 Millfield pupils take part in dance as part of their Games programme, and Millfield offers over 30 classes throughout the week. Classes are available in Ballet, Tap, Modern Jazz, Commercial, Contemporary and Musical Theatre.
Millfield’s Head of Dance, Julie Boyd, says; “It was a pleasure to welcome Andrew to Millfield to work with our pupils. Meeting and working with such an accomplished dancer is truly inspiring for those who dream of dancing on the West End stage. I hope that this experience will drive more pupils to believe they can follow in Andrew’s footsteps and be part of incredible projects like ‘Tarzan’. ”
