The fourth State Boarding Schools’ Sports Festival SBF saw 600 competitors; more than 100 matches and eight schools from across the country compete in five sports at Gordon’s School, West End, Woking on Thursday (27th September).

Under cloudless skies, Steyning Grammar School; Royal Alexandra and Albert; Holyport College; Wymondham College; Sir Roger Manwood’s School; Old Swinford Hospital and the Duke of York’s Royal Military School competed in hockey; rugby; football; netball; cross country and indoor rowing.

Gordon’s Head Teacher Andrew Moss said: “Since the last festival in 2016, we now have four SBF national cups across the major sports. Currently, these are fiercely contested by 12 to 15 state boarding schools and I hope that this number will grow and involve more schools as the tournaments embed.

Chairman of the State Boarding Forum Nick Wergan said: “This is the 4th such event and it has now become a key part of our State Boarding Calendar. We are proud of our work as state boarding schools and excited again to be coming together in collaboration and healthy competition.”
