Six Millfield cricketers, with one called up as a reserve, will represent the South and West U17 regional team at the EBC Super-4 U17 Festival at Loughborough University at the end of August. This is the largest number of call ups for any independent school in the country.
Kasey Aldridge from near Wells, Lewis Goldsworthy, Ned Leonard from Street, Julius Sumerauer, and Millfield Meyers XI Captain Sam Young from Bath have all been called up to play at the competition, with Max Hancock from Bristol called up as reserve for the same team.
The Super-4s week is a gathering of over 50 of the best U17 school boy cricketers in the country for a series of regional 50-over and T20 matches.
Millfield cricketers have played at almost every U17 Super-4 Festival since it began. In addition, the 2018 Millfield Meyers XI will play Bedford in the U17 National Final at Loughborough in September.
Millfield’s Director of Cricket, Mark Garaway says, “These recent call ups are a magnificent achievement for each of these boys, and for Millfield as a school. To have six players at a regional festival is extraordinary, and comes as a result of a number of years of hard work and dedication by the pupils as individuals, as well as our staff here at Millfield Cricket. I wish them the best of luck and look forward to seeing their progress in U17 cricket and beyond.”
The ECB Super-4 Festival begins on Monday August 20th at Loughborough University.
