A pair of sailing stars at Rydal Penrhos have been rewarded for their fine form with a national squad selection.

Brothers Eddie and Kevin Farrell, Year 10 and 9 pupils at the school, have been invited to join the RS Feva Class UK National Squad, which will run largely in parallel with the RYA UK Junior Squad.

The duo, who were recently crowned Welsh champions, will begin their training programme in November, which will consist of a comprehensive range of Squad Training weekends, on and off-water training and workshops with the aim of achieving success at key national and international regattas the following summer.

In addition the duo will also receive sports science support including advice on psychology, fitness, meteorology, nutrition, hydration, growth and maturation.

It has been a memorable season for the pupils, who have enhanced their growing reputation with a number of success in what has been another superb campaign.

Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “This is a sensational achievement from Eddie and Kevin and everyone at Rydal Penrhos is thrilled for them.

“They have worked very hard on the water over the summer, which has brought them a number of thoroughly deserved regional and national successes.

“We wish them the best of luck with the UK squad, and hope that they can achieve further accolades as part of the group.”
