Stephen Winkley Boarding Achievement Award
23rd January 2015

The BSA Stephen Winkley Boarding Achievement Award is a new award to mark the contribution of someone from the 'boarding family'. The award is named in honour of Stephen Winkley, former headmaster of Uppingham and Rossall, and former BSA chair. Stephen, who passed away last year, was a passionate champion of boarding and it is fitting this award has been set up in his name. We are pleased Stephen's widow, Jenny, and his son, Leo (head of St Peter's York and HMC representative on the BSA Executive Committee) strongly support the scheme.

Eligibility and criteria

The award is open to anyone professionally employed in boarding at a BSA member school. All staff who work in boarding, at whatever level, are eligible to be considered. Staff need to be nominated by their head, or, in the case of a head, by the chair of governors. Nominations must be submitted by March 31st, 2015 for consideration by a small judging panel including the current BSA Chair and National Director. Serving directors, officers and the BSA honorary president are excluded from consideration, although their schools are eligible to enter. The winner of the award will be announced at the Gala Dinner on May 6, 2015 during the BSA Annual Conference for Heads.
