Caughey brothers shine in National IAPS Fencing Championship
27th May 2014

Young brothers Murray and Peter Caughey from Loretto School shone in the recent National IAPS (The Independent Association of Preparatory Schools) Fencing Championship at Millfield School, Somerset.

Murray, 12, competing in the Under 14 category against fencers two years his senior, made it to the final and lost narrowly to the number 1 seed.

Younger brother, Peter, 10, stormed to victory in the Under 11 category and ensured that the family name remained on the trophy for the second year running, as he was following in his older brother’s footsteps who won the trophy last year!

Jonathan Hewat, Director of External Affairs at Loretto said, “What an achievement by Murray and Peter. We are very proud of the boys' success. Bringing home gold and silver medals is a huge achievement in the face of such tough opposition. We do offer our heartiest congratulations.”
