The Governors of Dover College are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Simon Fisher as Headmaster from September 2020.
Simon will join Dover College from Worth School in West Sussex where he has been Deputy Head (Academic) since 2015. During this time Simon has been pivotal in driving key areas of change, improving academic performance through the creation of effective data-driven systems, creating aspiration for pupils and changing the culture of staff and students, with excellent outcomes.
Prior to that he was Assistant Head with particular responsibility for ICT development and co-curricular provision. He joined Worth from Wycliffe College, where he worked for nine years as Head of Department, Deputy Housemaster and for four years a member of the senior leadership team. He has significant experience of co-educational schooling and leadership.
Simon impressed the Governors during the interview process by presenting a thoughtful Five Year Vision for the College, building upon the excellent work of Gareth Doodes and complementing the ethos and important community aspects of the School. The pupils that met Simon during his visit particularly warmed to him and his wife Abigail, who will join him at the College in September with their two children, Daisy and Bertie, who will also be starting at the Prep School in September.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Fisher said “I am delighted to have been appointed as the next Headmaster of Dover College. The warmth that I felt on my visit towards me and my family, but also witnessed between pupils and staff, has been inspirational. I very much look forward to leading and serving this vibrant and happy school community, building on the excellent work of Gareth Doodes.”
Due to the postponement of the Whole School Open Day on Saturday 14th March, and current situation with COVID 19, it is anticipated that Simon and Abigail will be at the College for the Summer Term Open Day on Saturday 16th May.
