Course Outline

For those staying current with the boarding sector, it will be clear that interest in growth and development, likely involves developing the offering your school can make to international families interested in a British education for their child. This webinar will provide an update on the international market for recruitment and marketing, and also provide best practice suggestions for working with Agents, and Guardians.

Training topics will include:

  • Working with Guardians.

  • All Governors, especially those with particular responsibility for Safeguarding and/or Boarding.

Trainer: Caroline Nixon, International Director, BSA Group and Director, BAISIS

Caroline Nixon has worked in international education for 30 years. Caroline is International Director for BSA Group and Director of BAISIS (British Association of Independent Schools with International Students) as well as being a member of the British Council International Education Advisory Group and of the advisory group for the APPG for international students. Before BAISIS and BSA, Caroline was Principal of Taunton School International and set up a new school for international children aged 8-14. Whilst there she was also responsible for the international marketing and admissions into Taunton School.

Trainer: Ammy Davies-Potter, Director of Guardianship and Inclusion, BSA Group

Ammy Davies-Potter joined BSA Group in 2020 as Director of Guardianship and Inclusion and works across the development of BSA’s certified guardian scheme, increasing standards of care and safeguarding in educational guardianship, and supports the development of training for pastoral staff across equity, diversity and inclusion. Before joining BSA, Ammy was Deputy Head (Pastoral) and DSL at St Mary’s Calne.

 

Trainer: Cheryl Connelly, Director of Training, AGBIS

Cheryl Connelly was education at Northumbria University where she completed an honours degree in Business Management. Having spent five years in the Civil Service, Cheryl moved to the Training and Enterprise Council where she advised public and private businesses on best practice and developed and delivered workshops to equip their own staff with the necessary skills to deliver continuous improvement. During this time, Cheryl also completed her post graduate diploma in Personnel and Development.

Cheryl then became an inspector with the Audit Commission where she led corporate compliance inspections and County and District councils, Police authorities and Fire authorities across the UK. After a decade at the Audit Commission, Cheryl moved into the educations sector as a Business Manager and Clerk to Governors, spending six years in the maintained sector before spending the last three years in the independent sector. During this time, Cheryl also completed her MSc in Business Education Management. Cheryl has also served for 17 years as a school governor, including as Chair of Governors and Chair of Finance and Resources.
