This virtual seminar is an introduction for new Nurses entering the world of boarding and for practicing School Nurses to broaden their knowledge. The content is specific to the boarding school environment and focuses on life outside of the NHS or private medical provision. Attending this training will help Nurses moving into the boarding environment familiarise themselves with processes, procedures and responsibilities unique to the sector.

  • Confidentiality and consent
  • National Minimum Standards (NMS) for Boarding, Inspections and the wider role

Speaker: Jill Hill, BSA Nurse Advisor and Head of Medical Health & Welfare, Cheltenham Ladies' College
Jill left a long career in Emergency Care in 2012 following a variety of roles including Emergency Nurse Practitioner, Lecturer Practitioner and finally Senior Sister for a total of 15 years. Jill sought to find a role where she was making a difference in people's lives, their experience of health, illness, grief and sometimes despair. With a continuing desire to continue to champion Nursing through promoting good practice, the role of Lead Nurse at Cheltenham Ladies' College was perfect and Jill joined the team in 2012.

In 2018, Jill took up an additional post as BSA Nurse Advisor alongside Jane Graham (St Teresa's, Effingham) providing training and advice to member schools and individuals. Now Head of Medical Health & Welfare at CLC, Jill continues to be a strong advocate of Nursing as a profession, working with a team built on trust, collaboration and mutual respect transferable across professions.
