Job Description:

Bilton Grange is proud to support school leavers in gaining valuable life experiences during their break from studying; for some it is asking (or answering!) the question of whether they might want to work in education in the future (as it did for the present Headmaster of Bilton Grange), for others it is about making the step away from being a University Student. Our Graduate Assistants are selected following an application process. After being long listed, applicants will be interviewed either online or by telephone and, if selected for shortlisting, will have a further online interview.

Bilton Grange is a happy, flourishing and successful Prep School set in 90 acres of beautiful grounds just south of Rugby. There are around 351 boys and girls, boarding and day, in the school aged between 3 and 13 and the school is continuing to evolve under a dynamic Senior Leadership Team.

An opportunity has arisen for a number of graduates, who are considering a career in teaching and studying a specialism in Modern Languages (which is of particular interest), Primary Teaching, Music, Design Technology, Classics, Drama, Computing or Sport, to work for a year at our school. The role will encompass providing support in the classroom, helping to look after a form pastorally and at the beginnings and ends of the day, helping out with duties at break times and, if desired, a small amount of supported teaching.

Candidates with interests and strengths and interests in extra-curricular learning activities would be particularly encouraged to apply. It may be possible for the right candidate to extend the contract into a second year with a PGCE programme supported by the school. Single accommodation may be available in return for assistance with boarding duties including some weekend working.

We are a seven-day-a-week boarding school and successful candidates must be prepared to throw themselves wholeheartedly into our community. As well as invaluable experience in the world of work, our Graduate Assistants are also qualified, at the school’s expense, as pool lifeguards.

The application window is now open and further information and the application process can be found here.

We require Graduate Assistants across various subjects from:
1 January 2022 to 1 July 2022
1 September 2022 to 30 June 2023

The closing date for applications is 9am on Monday 14th March 2022, although early application is recommended as applications will be considered as they are received.

Please Note
The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment or age.

We have a comprehensive COVID-19 risk assessment for all on-site working to ensure the health and safety of staff and pupils.

Recruitment Agencies

We have a team of internal recruiters and advertise our vacancies to attract candidates and not agency suppliers. If we need agency assistance, we will reach out to our trusted partners. Any speculative CVs we receive will not be accepted as an introduction.
