The Duke of Edinburgh Award (D of E), incorporating Bronze, Silver and Gold levels, is a popular and engaging scheme for pupils at Pocklington School. The programme develops resilience, leadership, practical skills, community awareness and is great fun!

The programme at Pocklington has grown substantially over the past few years and is in a healthy position. We are seeking a motivated, committed and organised Co-ordinator to take the Award forward. This will include building on current successes whilst also seeking new and innovative ways to deliver the Award.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be committed to the ethos of the D of E Award and promote awareness of the scheme in School
    • Recruit students to participate in the Award and monitor their progress via meetings and online connections
    •    Be responsible for overall running the Award Scheme, which includes administration of the scheme and liaising with the external providers who have historically supported our expeditions
    •    Accompany pupils on D of E activities at weekends and during school holidays
    •    Keep key D of E policies up to date and ensure compliance with D of E policies
    •    Monitor and evaluate the success of the Award
    •    Keep up to date with D of E developments, training requirements and new initiatives – either at other schools or the D of E itself

Pay and hours of work:
£5,686 per annum (FTE £24,198), annualised hours – 400 hours per year.
We expect you to work at least 400 hours per year (any extra hours would attract additional pay), which will be mostly focused around March to October (including school holidays) when the majority of the preparation and expeditions happen.  A flexible approach to working hours will be needed as you will need to commit to working the hours required to make the expeditions (approximately 20 days a year) a success.

For an informal conversation about the role please contact Miss Lucy Hornby, Head of Co-Curriculum on 01759 321200.
