Braeburn Garden Estate (BGE) have successfully operated boarding for the last 27 years, with weekly boarding only on offer for the last 12 years. BGE will revert to full-time boarding from September 2023 and we are recruiting for an overall Head of Boarding to commence from September 2022, but a January 2023 start date can be mutually agreed to suit the successful candidate. 

Currently, a significant refurbishment programme of the existing boarding facilities is underway which will accommodate up to 60 boys & 60 girls from years 8 to 13 when completed. For the period prior to opening, the candidate will be fully involved in the preparation for opening, including being responsible for writing/reviewing admissions processes, policies, handbooks, and developing staffing structures and operational systems, and involved in pre-opening marketing, student & staff recruitment. 

The position would be ideally suited for a couple / family or single person alike. BGE is proudly inclusive and offers the UK curriculum through Key Stage 4 and reverts to IB Diploma / Career Programme for Key Stage 5. The school includes all key stages, EYFS to KS5, is co-ed and has 740 students on roll. BGE is located in the leafy suburbs of Nairobi approx 8km  northeast of the city centre.

The Head of Boarding at BGE will be an experienced senior leader whose professional career to date shows a passion for boarding education. They will be recognised as an experienced leader in the field of boarding and will have a minimum of 5 years experience in schools globally renowned for boarding practice. The post holder will demonstrate inspirational senior leadership with the vision, presence, and foresight to develop and enhance the boarding provision, ethos, and outstanding personalised pastoral care for which BGE is renowned. In particular, the Head of Boarding will be responsible for overall management of the boarding houses, line managing house staff and ensuring that boarding is a caring, nurturing, and supportive environment dedicated to the wellbeing and education of students. The post holder will also lead and maintain all policies (underpinned by the BGE Vision & Mission). As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Boarding plays a full role in the strategic direction of the school, developing, personifying, and ensuring a whole school ethos which promotes the BGE values for all students, staff, parents and the local community.
