GAP ASSISTANT

Full Time, Term Time

Residential

Required for September 2022

RMS is a leading independent girls’ day/boarding School with around 1000 day and boarding pupils aged 2 to 18, over 350 teaching and support staff and situated on a 200-acre parkland site near Rickmansworth in Hertfordshire. This is a unique school where we combine dynamic teaching and learning with traditional expectations that are rooted in a long and proud history. RMS is committed to educating young women to be creative, enthusiastic and generous contributors to an ever-changing world.

RMS seeks to recruit a caring and outgoing residential GAP Assistant to join our team of GAP Assistants. We are seeking a GAP Assistant who will add value in a pastoral care environment within our boarding houses and also in academic areas throughout the school. RMS boarders enjoy a lively and varied programme of activities and benefit from outstanding pastoral care. You will contribute to this and be independent, organised, able to work within a team with a flexible, can do approach.

Reporting to the GAP Co-ordinators, you will be required to assist boarding house staff with the organisation of the houses and to assist with the safety, good discipline and pastoral wellbeing of students in the boarding houses.

GAP Assistants also contribute in school by supporting academic and administrative departments. Tasks are varied and can cover day and/or evening hours. The position is an ideal opportunity for candidates who are interested in pursuing a career in teaching or education generally.

This role is residential and the GAP Assistant is required to live on site. Many of our staff live on site, we have fifty residential properties spread around the grounds, and RMS has a strong family ethos. For those who want the bright lights, thirty minutes on the tube will get you to Central London, and for those who don’t, a walk around our 200 acres of parkland on a summer evening is hard to beat.

RMS is one of the top performing schools nationally for Value Added at GCSE and A level and we are proud to be an inclusive school where all girls are encouraged to fulfil their potential. Potential candidates are strongly encouraged to visit the school website www.rmsforgirls.com and social media accounts for more information about our thriving school, with its inclusive community spirit that encourages both girls and staff to share a commitment to continued personal, professional and academic development.

We welcome a completed application form which can be downloaded from our website. Completed applications only and any enquiries should be addressed to Miss Tyler Lawton on 01923 725762 or tlawton@rmsforgirls.com.

Please note CVs are not accepted.

We welcome female applicants only as this is position is in a girls’ boarding house. This is a genuine occupational requirement in accordance with schedule 9, part 1 of the Equality Act.
