Job Description:

An exciting opportunity for a Teacher of English to join the team at King’s Ely, a leading independent day and boarding school based in Cambridgeshire.

King’s Ely serves the academic and pastoral needs of around 1,000 boys and girls from the age of 2 through to 18, with boarders from 8 years old.

Nestled in the picturesque cathedral city of Ely in Cambridgeshire, King’s Ely is a vibrant, nurturing, inclusive and forward-looking community which has prepared children’s futures for a millennium, making us one of the oldest schools in the world. Ely is just 15 minutes from Cambridge and 1 hour from London, with direct rail links to both.

King’s Ely is delighted to be a finalist in the recent Independent Schools of the Year Awards, and our latest Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) inspection resulted in our school achieving the highest grading possible in every single category. Inspectors said that “pupils throughout King’s Ely make excellent progress across all areas of learning and at all age and ability ranges”, and that “pupils show a keen appreciation, respect and support for the diverse nature of their community”.

We have an exciting vacancy for a Teacher of English to join our team in September (2022).

We seek to appoint a qualified, enthusiastic and committed graduate to teach English across the ability range of Years 9 to 13. English has a very strong profile at King’s, with a healthy uptake at A Level.

The successful applicant will be expected to use their talents to help enrich the opportunities for all pupils outside the curriculum and play a full part in the life of our vibrant and busy school.

We welcome applications as soon as possible, with the closing date being January 19th. Interviews will be held on January 27th.
