It will cover the nature of a ‘typical’ school crisis including recent patterns and trends. Developing Strategy\nJune 5\, 2025\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSpeaker: \nRichard Harman\, Chief Executive\, AGBIS \nRichard Harman was educated at The King’s School\, Worcester\, followed by Trinity College\, Cambridge\, where he read English.  Having spent two years working for an academic publisher\, he decided his real vocation was in teaching.  After five years at Marlborough College teaching English and Drama\, during which time he also completed his PGCE at Exeter University\, he spent 12 years at Eastbourne College.  Progressing from Head of English to Housemaster of a Sixth Form girls’ house to member of the Senior Management Team\, he then became Headmaster of Aldenham in September 2000 and thence to Uppingham in 2006. After a decade leading Uppingham and 32 years overall in teaching\, he embarked on a third career as Chief Executive of AGBIS. Richard is much enjoying the challenges at AGBIS\, having been Chairman of the Boarding Schools’ Association for 2011-12 and Chairman of HMC for 2014-15.

In this session\, we’ll be discussing safeguarding and immigration updates with guest speakers\, Kate Hollyer\, Executive Director (Legal)\, BSA Group & Director (Solicitor)\, BSA Legal and Claire Dan\, Director of Safeguarding and Director\, SACPA. \nLearning outcomes: \n\nA greater understanding and knowledge of current safeguarding and immigration issues that may impact international students.\n\nBOOK NOW \n  \n\nSpeaker:  \nKate Hollyer\, Executive Director (Legal)\, BSA Group & Director (Solicitor)\, BSA Legal \nKate is Legal and Public Affairs Director of BSA Group and Director of BSA Group Legal Services Ltd\, BSA Group’s SRA-regulated law firm. As a qualified solicitor of England and Wales with more than 12 years’ experience advising clients on UK immigration and nationality law\, Kate supports members with all UK immigration matters including UKVI sponsor licence compliance. Kate is a member of the Home Office Education Advisory Group and is the boarding sector representative for this group. Prior to joining BSA in 2022 Kate was Partner and Head of Department at a leading full-service UK law firm. Having resided in state\, preparatory and senior school boarding houses since 2014 with her Housemaster husband\, Kate has a unique perspective of boarding life. \n \nClaire Dan\, Director of Safeguarding and Director\, Sacpa \nClaire is Director of Safeguarding and Director\, Sacpa and leads on the provision of safeguarding advice and support to members and the development and delivery of CPD and safeguarding consultancy services. Claire is a safeguarding specialist and leader with a background in education welfare\, youth justice\, and early help contexts which have involved a strong focus on diverse and collaborative partnerships\, professional development and supervision of front-line safeguarding colleagues\, and leading multi-disciplinary teams and projects. Between 2006 and 2013 Claire was involved with Luton Safeguarding Children Board as a lead multi-agency safeguarding trainer\, developing and delivering single and multi-agency safeguarding training\, and since 2013 has delivered pieces of bespoke consultancy work\, and providing a range of safeguarding consultancy on a freelance basis.
