It looks at the variety of roles within a boarding school and boarding house\, from Director of Boarding to house support staff\, and how this works in different types of boarding schools. It will then consider the practical and legal requirements of staff/student ratios and the importance of creating clear rotas to ensure appropriate staff cover for boarding at all times.  \n Training topics will include:  \n\nBoarding roles and job descriptions \nStaff planning and regulations \nStaff cover and house supervision. \n\nLearning outcomes:   \n\nA clear understanding of different roles and functions in boarding\, legal requirements for staff/boarder ratios and how to organise staff rotas. \nHow to evaluate good practice in pupil management and supervision \nEmbedding relevant key principles within the duty team \n\nBOOK NOW \n  \n\nSpeaker: \n \nAndrew Lewin\, BSA Senior Consultant \nAndrew Lewin was International Director at the BSA before moving into a consultant role. His broad remit offers a range of services to boarding schools worldwide. He has considerable experience working with boarding school staff all around the world and lived and worked in boarding schools for much of his life. \nAndrew has set up his own company in 2020\, Project 1000 Ltd\, that focuses on educational consultancy and resilience coaching. He is a WRAW Master Practitioner\, trained by the Wellbeing Project\, and offers life coaching\, diagnostic assessments\, workshops and seminars. He is also Education Development Director for Performance Learning\, an NSPCC Associate and an IAPS Consultant\, as well as a Director of Wiltshire & Swindon Sport and Team Removals. \n\nDale Wilkins\, Executive Director\, Scotland/Wales and Accredited/Compliance \nDale joined the BSA during Summer 2017 with responsibility for safeguarding and standards\, having previously been a course tutor since 1998. In July 2019 he also assumed responsibility for the BSA’s training programme\, including both day seminars and accredited training courses. Dale leads on all safeguarding and inspection matters for the BSA\, including managing the Commitment to Care Charter and has also developed a process of BSA Accreditation for our international members. He also liaises with ISI\, Ofsted and DfE on matters relating to compliance and inspection standards\, and compiles the BSA Self-Assessment toolkit\, which he first produced in 2002\, since which time he has been closely involved in inspection in state and independent boarding. \nFor 31 years Dale was a boarding practitioner. After boarding positions at Norwich School and Tettenhall College\, Dale became a Housemaster at Old Swinford Hospital in 1992\, and was promoted to Deputy Head in 2007\, and subsequently also DSL. He has also been a multi-agency trainer for the Dudley Safeguarding Children’s Board.
