Our speaker will use examples from their practice to discuss common challenges as well as successful strategies and how to implement them. \nTraining topics will include: \n\nDiagnosis process and most common diagnoses\nBest practice in supporting Prep pupils with SEND\nImpact of SEND on boarding and how best to support pupils\nEnsuring consistency of approach across school\n\nLearning outcomes: \n\nAn understanding of the current SEND context in Prep environments\nHow to support Prep age pupils with SEND in the classroom and boarding house\nGetting staff on board with SEND strategies\n\nBOOK NOW \n\nSpeaker: \nDr Katharine Sharpe \nKatharine is a Chartered Educational Psychologist and experienced teacher who works in a Prep School as Assistant Head (Pastoral) and Head of Learning Support. After graduating with a Psychology degree\, she started her career as a primary teacher before completing post-graduate training to qualify as an Educational Psychologist. Katharine spent 15 years working for a large local authority Psychology Service before becoming Head of Learning Support at Caterham Prep School. Her Doctoral research at UCL examined the impact of mindset on the literacy attainments of Key Stage 3 pupils. Katharine maintains a private psychology practice alongside her teaching role. She is the IAPS SEND Subject Advisor and sits on the ISC Cross-Association SEND Advisory Group.

She is an experienced senior leader and has worked in a range of state and independent schools. She is a qualified SENCO and holds a Masters Degree in Inclusive Education. Prior to joining the BSA\, Gaelle was Deputy Head Pastoral\, DSL and Head of Boarding at an all-girls independent school in the South-East.
