DESCRIPTION:Date: May 17\, 2024\nTime: 09:30 – 10:30\nCost: Sacpa Member – £65\, Additional Sacpa Member – £30\, Non-member – £130\nAudience: This webinar is for all staff working in organisations who recruit and retain volunteers including trustees and safeguarding leaders in third sector organisations and those with charitable status.\nPlatform: Zoom (online) – Webinar\n\n\nContent Overview: \nThis webinar is for all staff working in organisations who recruit and retain volunteers including trustees and safeguarding leaders in third sector organisations and those with charitable status. \nTraining topics will include: \nThis webinar is delivered by an expert in safeguarding and protecting charities and topics include; \n\nThe charity commission and its regulatory role in safeguarding\nTrustee safeguarding duties including safer recruitment\nSafeguarding expectations\, policies and procedures\nCreating a safer culture and proactive monitoring\nGetting serious incident reporting right\nOvercoming resistance to safer recruitment checks and safeguarding training\n\nLearning outcomes: \n\nReview and refresh the role of the Charity Commission and its regulation of safeguarding\nUpdate knowledge and understanding of trustee safeguarding duties\nUnderstanding expectations and reflecting these in policy and procedure\nMaintaining the right safeguarding culture and responding in the right way to incidents\n\nBOOK NOW \n\nSpeaker: Cath Edginton\, Charity Commission\, Technical Adviser and Senior Safeguarding Lead \nCath joined the Charity Commission in January 2019 from the Metropolitan Police after 31 years of service. Throughout her police service Cath has been involved in the policing areas of safeguarding and public protection working across a wide range of diverse and vulnerable groups to challenge crime and promote safeguarding.  Her current role is to drive the external and internal implementation of the Commission’s safeguarding strategy and to develop the Commission’s operational safeguarding capabilities through the provision of guidance and advice on policy and operational casework. She intends to develop new and existing relationships with external partners in order to raise awareness of the role of the Commission and to have an impact on how safeguarding issues across the charity sector are approached and managed.
