Jody completed her doctorate at the University of East London. She is also a Consultant Psychologist providing consultations for foster carers and supervising social workers. She is a registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council. Before commencing her training\, Jody worked as a teacher\, learning support assistant and tutor with young people from 5-19. The focus of much of her work looked at anxiety and mental health issues in school settings. SUMMARY:CBT development training
DESCRIPTION:🏷️ From £175\n📍 Online \n\nCourse outline \nThis training has been especially designed for BSA members as a follow up to CBT introduction: tools and strategies. Our speaker will take delegates further into the study of CBT practices and how we can use these to support young people in establishing resilience\, self-confidence and manage stress and negative feelings. \nThis one-day course is for delegates who have been using some Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approaches in their work. This course will be an opportunity to develop and extend the skills of delegates who have started to apply some CBT tools in their work. The session will be bespoke and designed to build on the skills delegates are already using\, and introduce new tools to utilise. Delegates will leave the session with new skills and tools to extend their work and skills when working with individuals\, small groups and whole classes/houses. Delegates will also have the opportunity to raise specific areas where they would like to develop their skills which will be addressed e.g.\, wanting to use CBT tools with a wider range of young people\, to address different needs e.g.\, exam anxiety\, perfectionism\, peer relationships\, self-esteem\, social media use. \nWho is this course for? \n\nDelegates who have previously attended: CBT introduction – tools and strategies\nDelegates who are already using some aspects of CBT in their work. DESCRIPTION:🏷️ From £135\n🎧 Senior Leaders\, EDI leads\, SENCOs\, all staff with an interest in inclusion\n📍 Online\n🎥 Watch live or catch up\n\n\n\nCourse Outline: \nThe aim of this half day seminar is to provide an opportunity to learn more about the importance of the management system of the brain – known as executive functioning skills and to consider strategies that can be used to support pupils.  \nTraining Topics Include: \n\nThe three main areas of working memory\, cognitive flexibility (flexible thinking) and inhibitory control (including self-control) will be unpacked. When people struggle with executive function\, it impacts them at home\, in school\, and in life because the skills involved support goal setting\, planning\, and completing tasks. \nExecutive function is responsible for many skills including: paying attention; organizing\, planning\, and prioritising; starting tasks and staying focused on them to completion; understanding different points of view; regulating emotions and self-monitoring. Executive functioning skills usually develop quickly in early childhood and into the teen years but are still developing into the mid-20s. Some people struggle with EF\, and this can cause challenges during childhood\, as a teenager and young adult. \nWe will hear from an EF expert about what executive function skills are and how they impact our lives. We will also hear directly from school staff about adjustments and proactive work that has made a positive impact in their settings. \n\nLearning Outcomes: \n\nAttending this half day seminar will help delegates increase their knowledge and understanding of the importance of supporting executive functioning for all pupils\, but particularly for those who have weaker EF function. We pride ourselves on having strong communities within our schools but this means we need to be considerate and conscientious in welcoming and inducting people. Suggestions and ideas will be shared to encourage delegates to review the induction processes for both new staff and new students. \nTraining topics will include: \n\nThe benefits of a strong induction programme\nInduction for new staff to the boarding community/house\nInduction for new boarders to the boarding community/house\nThe wider school induction.\n\nLearning outcomes: \n\nAn increased understanding of the importance of a successful induction for both students and staff\nTips and recommendations on what to include in your induction process for students\nTips and recommendations on what to include in your induction process for staff.\n\nBOOK NOW \nSpeaker: \nMark Robinson\, BSA Senior Consultant \nMark has a Product Design Degree from Brunel University and a PGCE. His first post in independent education was as Assistant Master at Christ’s Hospital in Horsham where he held several positions including Assistant Housemaster to a junior boy’s boarding house. After five years he moved on to Ardingly College in West Sussex as a Head of Department and Housemaster to a joint day and boarding house. Mark has been an inspector on boarding inspections\, an Assistant Housemaster to a girls’ boarding house and fully involved in teaching up to ‘A‘ Level. \nIn 2002 Mark gave up teaching to set up Mentor Education Services Ltd\, a business offering education-related consultancy services to the independent sector\, initially training\, interview coaching and professional development but also marketing and pre-inspection to schools both in the independent and maintained sector. \nMark was appointed as Assistant Director of Training for the Boarding Schools’ Association in 2010\, where he continued offering training and consultancy to independent and state schools both in the UK and around the world. In 2017 he was appointed as Deputy Head Pastoral at Collège du Léman in Switzerland\, a large international boarding and day school. After gaining some further\, valuable international experience\, Mark returned to the UK to continue his training and consultancy in the Independent and state school sectors.
