For many schools\, recruiting internationally involves working with educational agents to support the promotion of their school overseas and to ensure that student and school community are paired successfully. \nRelationships with agents can vary. The BSA Certified Agent scheme assures the professional quality of agents to schools\, but there are a number of ways in which schools themselves can improve their working relationships with agents. This two-hour session will go through the process of finding\, building relationships and working with agents\, with best practice recommendations to support the development of strong relationships between school and agent. The sooner your new GAP assistants have a real understanding of the basic principles and expectations of their role in boarding and understand their safeguarding responsibilities\, the sooner the school will have effective staff members and teams who enjoy their duties\, feel able to support young people in their care and deal with any challenges. \nThis seminar will compliment a school-based induction and enable your new GAP assistants to have the knowledge and skills to make the best possible start to their boarding role. As young people themselves\, it is crucial schools recruiting GAP assistants support with a quality induction and training to get their GAP assistants settled. \nThis seminar will cover relevant aspects of the Duty of Care framework\, legal context\, roles and boundaries\, and ways in which delegates can meet the emotional needs of the boarders in their care. By the end of the session\, delegates should feel more confident in their role and be looking forward to enjoying their time on duty in their boarding house. \nDelegates will be provided with a workbook including core information relating to boarding and safeguarding for their year involved in the boarding sector. He works closely with ISI\, Ofsted\, and DfE\, and oversees the Group’s work in Scotland and Wales. A trainer and consultant for BSA and SACPA\, Dale is Vice Chair of SAFCAB. Beyond education\, he trains for the Methodist Church\, is a charity trustee\, chairs a performing arts organisation\, and volunteers widely. \n  \n\nSue Duff \nFollowing a successful career in commerce\, culminating in a senior position in a world leading market research organisation\, Sue made the transition to teaching in the independent sector. Having worked in prep\, GSA and HMC environments\, she has a breadth of experience across the independent schools sector. Sue has always focussed on boarding in her teaching career having set up two houses from scratch as well as running boarding teams. Before the leap to self employment\, she was on the Senior Leadership Team at one of the country’s premier HMC boarding schools\, having led the integration of the school into a fully co-educational environment and held various management positions. Sue now works with schools\, both in the UK and worldwide\, as an inspector and consultant predominantly looking at boarding\, pastoral and academic systems\, helping to improve the outcomes that pupils experience. She also works on whole school compliance projects. Sue has worked with the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) since 2011 and is a Lead/Reporting Inspector\, also inspecting for AEGIS and COBIS. She has been working with the BSA undertaking consultancy and training for almost 20 years. Sue is vice-chair of Governors at a large HMC co-ed school in Worcestershire.
