Heads\, deputy Heads\, Designated Safeguarding Leads\, Tutors\, Matrons\, Nurses.\nPlatform: Zoom (Online) – Seminar\n\n\nCourse outline: \nThis course is aimed at any school staff who work closely with young people struggling with their mental health and who wish to increase their knowledge and gain practical tips on how best to support them. \nTraining topics will include: \n\nPhysiology of anxiety – endorphins\, fight/fright\, window of tolerance\,\nAssessment – value of gathering information and how\nImpact of  Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE’s) and Early Help pathways\nSafe place\, time out\, named support staff – considerations for schools\nCommunication styles and resources to aid effective communication\nCoping strategies – healthy and unhealthy – distraction techniques\, breathing\, mindfulness\, self sooth box\nWhen to be concerned and who to refer to – GP\, CAMHS\, counselling services.\n\nLearning outcomes: \n\nTo be updated on the physiological effect of anxiety on the body and be able to explain this simply to a young person to help them make sense of their symptoms\nTo gain skills and knowledge on how to conduct an initial assessment and history taking from a young person relating to their mental health\nTo expand knowledge on adjustments and support strategies that can be integrated in schools for young people with anxiety\nGain increased knowledge on referral pathways and multi-agency working.\n\nBOOK NOW \n\nSpeaker: \nRhiannon Phillips-Bianco\, Head of Wellbeing\, Globeducate \nRhiannon Phillips-Bianco is the Head of Wellbeing for Globeducate\, one of the world’s leading education groups. She leads wellbeing initiatives across sixty-five schools in eleven countries while continuing to teach part-time at Rome International School\, working with students aged three to eighteen. \nAn experienced educator and leader\, Rhiannon has worked in schools across England\, Italy\, and The Netherlands since 2003. As a parent of nineteen-year-old twins who navigated the international school system before starting university in England\, she brings both professional expertise and personal insight into student wellbeing. \nRhiannon specialises in stress management and resilience-building\, particularly during high-pressure periods such as exams. Her approach focuses on providing practical\, evidence-based strategies to support students\, staff\, and parents in fostering a culture of wellbeing. It will consider when and where to request data and what to expect from senior leadership teams. Expectations on Governors\nJuly 2\, 2025\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSpeaker: \nRichard Harman\, Chief Executive\, AGBIS \nRichard Harman was educated at The King’s School\, Worcester\, followed by Trinity College\, Cambridge\, where he read English.  Having spent two years working for an academic publisher\, he decided his real vocation was in teaching.  After five years at Marlborough College teaching English and Drama\, during which time he also completed his PGCE at Exeter University\, he spent 12 years at Eastbourne College.  Progressing from Head of English to Housemaster of a Sixth Form girls’ house to member of the Senior Management Team\, he then became Headmaster of Aldenham in September 2000 and thence to Uppingham in 2006. After a decade leading Uppingham and 32 years overall in teaching\, he embarked on a third career as Chief Executive of AGBIS. Richard is much enjoying the challenges at AGBIS\, having been Chairman of the Boarding Schools’ Association for 2011-12 and Chairman of HMC for 2014-15.
